Itinerary

Day 1Kotor

Welcome to Montenegro. Tivat Airport is a mere 10 kilometers from Kotor, making it the most convenient gateway for your Adriatic adventure. Unpack and get familiar with the boat as your Montenegro sailing adventure begins. In the evening, we will explore the awe-inspiring Bay of Kotor, often hailed as one of the world’s top 10 most beautiful bays, and have the opportunity to wander through the well-preserved city, strolling its historic streets while being captivated by the stunning landscapes that surround it.

Following your visit to Kotor, you’ll have time for relaxation and contemplation. Whether you choose to unwind on deck, enjoy a dip in the Adriatic waters, or savor a delicious meal prepared with fresh, local ingredients on board, you’ll relish this tranquil interlude before setting sail for the next destination.

Day 2Herceg Novi

The sailing journey commences with a gentle 1-2 hour sail along the coast, offering panoramic views of Kotor’s medieval city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, nestled amid towering mountains. Herceg Novi, often affectionately known as the ‘City of the Sun,’ welcomes you with its centuries-old charm and countless sunny days. After a leisurely sail, you’ll arrive at this historic coastal town. Its old town, perched beautifully on the mountainside, offers a glimpse into its rich past. You can take a stroll along the promenade, extending for several kilometers, and perhaps even partake in one of the numerous summer festivals, including opera, classical music, and movie screenings.

For those seeking adventure, the Blue Cave near Herceg Novi is a must-visit. Situated on the Lustica Peninsula, this remarkable natural wonder spans around 300 square meters. If you time your visit before lunch, you’ll witness the magical spectacle of sunlight piercing through the cave, illuminating the turquoise and bright blue waters, creating an enchanting display. In the afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the vibrant streets, relax on the picturesque beaches, or try out some of the local specialties. Whether you’re in search of cultural enrichment or a serene beach day, Herceg Novi offers a delightful mix of activities.

Day 3Budva

After a delightful morning sail of 1-2 hours, you’ll arrive at the bustling coastal town of Budva. While Budva boasts a history dating back to the 5th century BC, the town today offers a more modern and lively atmosphere. The Old Town, a highlight of your visit, is a testament to the town’s rich heritage, featuring well-preserved medieval architecture. Budva is renowned for its lively summer festivals, theaters, and a variety of stunning beaches that cater to every preference.

Sandy, stone, and pebbly shores await you, some tucked away in tranquil coves, others shaded by fragrant pine trees, and some with views of small islets dotting the horizon. Each day in Budva unveils a new beach to explore, promising a diverse coastal experience. Across the bay from Budva lies the largest sea island in Montenegro, Sveti Nikola. Often dubbed the “Hawaii near Budva,” this island invites you to bask in its crystal-clear waters, unwind on its pristine beaches, and enjoy the serenity that only the sea can provide.

Day 4Bar

As you embark on a 1-2-hour morning sail to Bar, you’ll soon discover the town’s unique charm. Bar, a modern port town, harmoniously blends urban amenities with lush green spaces and an array of cultural events and festivals. A prominent highlight is the Stari Bar (Old Town), perched atop a hill with breathtaking cliffs surrounding it and picturesque farming villages nestled below. Here, you can explore the ruins and immerse yourself in the rich history.

During the afternoon, you can choose to visit the delightful village of Murici, situated on the shores of Lake Skadar. The village boasts a tranquil beach, ideal for swimming, relaxation, and soaking in the stunning views. Don’t miss the chance to visit Skadar Lake, the region’s largest lake, which is a paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. Bar offers a blend of history, natural beauty, and cultural richness that ensures an enriching and varied experience.

Day 5Ulcinj

Ulcinj, a town with a rich cultural tapestry, welcomes you with its intriguing blend of influences. Following a 1-2 hour sail, you’ll find yourself in this captivating frontier city where Eastern and Western traditions coexist. The town’s trading quarter boasts vibrant bazaars, market days, and a skyline punctuated by minarets. Serbian signs coexist alongside their Albanian counterparts, showcasing the town’s diversity. The symbol of Ulcinj is undoubtedly the Old Town, a fortress perched dramatically on a cliff above the sea, revealing layers of history. Here, you’ll encounter remnants of Illyrian-Greek fortifications, medieval Serbian rulers’ towers, Venetian chambers, and churches adorned with minarets, all woven together with legends of Algerian pirates, black slaves, Jewish false prophets, and even Miguel Cervantes, who was once captured by these pirates and fell in love with a local.

In the afternoon, Ulcinj offers a delightful array of experiences. You can bask on the Small Beach, which serves as the city’s sandy haven, as you soak up the sun on the 360-meter stretch of golden sand. Alternatively, you can venture to the Great Beach, spanning thirteen kilometers, where the tiniest gray sand meets the mistral summer wind, creating ideal conditions for windsurfing and kiteboarding. This beach culminates at the triangular Ada Island on the Boyana River, home to Montenegro’s most famous nudist beach, a sanctuary for sunbathers seeking a clothing-optional paradise.

Day 6Bigova

Bigova, a charming fishing village tucked away on the Adriatic Coast, is your destination after a tranquil and short morning sail. While the harbor provides excellent shelter, facilities on land are limited, save for a couple of local restaurants and shops. A unique delight for travelers is the opportunity to savor the freshest catch, brought in daily by local fishermen. Chorba, a flavorful fish soup, is a national dish that’s well worth a try in Bigova.

The clear and tranquil waters of Bigova make it a perfect location for water enthusiasts, whether you’re snorkeling amidst vibrant marine life, swimming in the crystal-clear sea, diving to explore the underwater treasures, or simply enjoying some quality fishing time. This secluded village offers a peaceful escape, allowing you to connect with the simplicity of coastal life and enjoy its natural beauty to the fullest. After dinner, take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront and savor the tranquil ambiance of this charming Montenegrin fishing village, where the moonlight glistens on the Adriatic waters, creating a serene and memorable backdrop to your evening.

Day 7Tivat

Tivat, once a naval base, has undergone a remarkable transformation and is now one of the most luxurious yachting destinations in the Mediterranean. After a morning sail of 1-2 hours, you’ll discover a vibrant town that seamlessly blends old-world charm with modern amenities. Tivat is renowned for being a playground for the rich and famous, attracting visitors seeking adventure. With over 40 active sports clubs, Tivat is a hub for sports tourism, offering activities like hiking, mountain biking, and extreme canyoning for those looking to inject a dose of adrenaline into their journey.

In the afternoon, take a voyage to Sveti Marko Island, located west of the Tivat peninsula. This beautiful island boasts a stunning beach, perfect for relaxation and swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic. Tivat’s appeal lies in its ability to cater to diverse tastes, offering a fusion of elegance, adventure, and natural beauty.

Day 8Kotor

As the sun rises on your final day of this remarkable Montenegro sailing adventure, you’ll begin by packing and preparing to leave the boat that has been your home on the Adriatic waters for an unforgettable journey.
